Our Story

In the early spring of 2020, our family moved from the fast-paced lifestyle of Northern Virginia to Charles Town, West Virginia, to embrace an independent and sustainable life. We embarked on a journey to learn about permaculture, regenerative farming, and growing our own food. Starting small, with chickens and ducks soon led us to manage 48 laying hens and 9 ducks. In the fall of 2021, we acquired our first beehive and delved deep into educating ourselves about apiary management. We enjoyed the opportunity to share the multifaceted benefits that bees offer, including their crucial role as pollinators, their potential as therapy aids, and their importance in land management practices. As our community expanded, we took on multiple honey harvests every season. Sweet Dog Honey currently produces sustainable honey and bee products. We seek to expand our impact through education and hands-on apiculture. Our goal is to inspire and empower individuals to embrace beekeeping practices and sustainable living. We are passionate about sharing knowledge and passing on the gift of freedom that sustainable living offers.
